Ingredients

  • Maida/atta
    500 g
  • Salt
  • Hot water
  • Sunrise Red Chili Powder
    1 tsp/ 5 g
  • Sunrise Cumin Seeds
    1 tsp/ 5 g
  • Ghee
    5 tbsp
  • Onion
    1 Chopped
  • Boiled & Mashed Potatoes
    4
  • Chopped Coriander
    1 tsp
  • Green Chilli
    4 Chopped

Sunrise tip: - Add a teaspoon of sugar while kneading the dough to make it softer!

 

The Prep

The Filling

Step 1
Heat 1 tbsp ghee
Step 2
1 tsp/5 g Cumin Seeds
Step 3
1 chopped onion
Step 4
4 chopped green chilli
Step 5
Add mashed potatoes
Step 6
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
Step 7
Add salt
Step 8
1 tsp chopped coriander

The Dough

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine maida/atta and salt while gradually adding warm water.
Step 2
Knead the mixture until a soft, pliable dough forms, cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Sunrise tip: - For flaky layers,use cold water and avoid over-kneading your aloo porotha dough!

The Assembly

Step 1
Divide the dough into equal portions and roll out each dough portion into circles.
Step 2
Stuff with the prepared filling and pinch the edges securely to enclose the filling.
Step 3
Gently roll the dough ball.

The Cook

Step 1
Gently lay the porotha on the tawa and cook for a minute.
Step 2
Apply ghee on top and cook the porotha until golden brown on both sides.

Sunrise tip:- Instead of oil, use ghee to add a desi touch to your parathas!
