Creamy & Aromatic Paneer Madhuri Recipe


Paneer Madhuri is a quintessential North Indian dish featuring succulent cottage cheese cubes simmered in a luscious, fragrant onion-tomato gravy. This easy-to-make yet irresistible curry gets its distinct flavour from the perfect blend of aromatic spices. A touch of hot milk lends a velvety richness, while ghee adds an enticing aroma. Pair this paneer delicacy with naan or jeera rice for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • Sunrise Poppy Seed Paste

  • Ginger-Garlic Paste

  • Paneer

    300 g
  • Sugar

  • Onion (sliced)

  • Hot Milk

    ½ cup
  • Salt

  • Ghee

Sunrise tip: For an extra creamy texture, soak the paneer cubes in warm water for 15-20 minutes before adding to the gravy. This keeps them soft and moist.

 

Steps

Step 1: Fry the Paneer

Time: 10 minutes

Heat oil in a kadhai or deep pan. Add paneer cubes in it and fry until golden-brown. Now, keep them aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Gravy Base

Time: 10 minutes

Heat refined oil in a pan, add dry red chillies, bay leaves, sliced onions and fry until golden.

 

Step 3: Add Tomatoes and Water

Time: 10 minutes

Add sliced tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste and keep frying until soft and mushy.

Add the ground Sunrise Poppy Seed paste to the pan and stir well. Then, add some water and sauté the masala on medium heat for 5 minutes.

 

Step 4: Add Paneer and Finish

Time: 7 minutes

Gently slide in the fried paneer cubes, ensuring they are immersed in the gravy. Cook for 5 minutes.

Stir in hot milk and ghee. Simmer for another minute and turn off the heat.

 

Step 5: Let's Serve

Time: 5 minutes

Let the Paneer Madhuri rest for 5 minutes for the flavours to intensify. Serve piping hot with naan, roti or jeera rice. Enjoy!
