Zesty Masala Peanut Salad: Protein-Rich Indian Snack


A classic Indian street snack, Masala Peanut Salad combines crunchy peanuts with finely chopped veggies, tart lemon juice, and a zesty masala spice blend. This protein-packed salad is a fresh and healthy nibble that's easy to prepare in under 15 minutes. The key is boiling the peanuts just until tender, without turning them mushy. Paired with a steaming cup of masala chai, it's the perfect pick-me-up.

 

Ingredients

  • Sunrise Chaat Masala

    20 g
  • Refined Oil

    50 ml
  • Sunrise Red Chilli Powder

    15 g
  • Sunrise Cumin Powder

    10 g
  • Sunrise Coriander Powder

    30 g
  • Salt to Taste

  • Peanuts

    200 g
  • Cucumber (finely chopped)

    25 g
  • Tomato (finely chopped)

    20 g
  • Onion (finely chopped)

    25 g
  • Green Chilli (finely chopped)

    10 g
  • Ginger (finely chopped)

    10 g
  • Coriander Leaves (finely chopped)

    40 g
  • Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)

    ½ lemon

Sunrise tip: For a creamier texture, add 2 tbsp thick yoghurt to the salad. Mix gently to coat.


Steps

Step 1: Prepare the spices

Time: 5 minutes

Heat refined oil in a pan. Add Sunrise Red Chilli powder, Sunrise Cumin powder, Sunrise Coriander powder, salt to taste and cook for 2-3 minutes.
 

Step 2: Add peanuts

Time: 5 minutes

Once the spices are blended properly, add the peanuts to the spicy mixture. Mix well.

Turn off the heat and transfer the spicy peanuts into a bowl. Let them cool for a few minutes.
 

Step 3: Season the salad

Time: 4 minutes

To the spiced peanuts, add all the chopped veggies, lemon juice and then mix well with a spoon.

Add Sunrise Chaat Masala and toss well until everything is evenly mixed and the peanuts are well-coated with the masala.
 

Step 4: Garnish and serve

Time: 1 minute

Transfer the salad to a serving bowl. Garnish with extra coriander leaves if desired. Serve immediately as a snack or starter.
