Papri Chaat is the ultimate Indian street food snack—an addictive medley of contrasting flavours and textures, from crispy fried papdi to creamy whipped yoghurt, tangy tamarind and spicy mint chutneys, and a garnish of crunchy sev and fragrant spices, all piled onto a plate. While it may seem like a lot of components, this recipe breaks it down into simple steps, so you can easily recreate this classic chaat at home.

  • Potatoes (boiled)

  • Sunrise Cumin Powder

  • Tamarind Chutney

  • Papri

  • Sour Curd (sweetened)

  • Bhujia

  • Coconut (fresh slices)

Sunrise tip: Always chill your yoghurt before assembling the chaat. Cold and creamy dahi balances the tangy chutneys and gives your papri chaat that perfect street-style freshness!


Steps

Step 1: Prepare the mixture

Time: 20 minutes

Take a large bowl, add potatoes, onions, tomatoes, green chilli, chopped coriander leaves, salt, Sunrise Cumin powder, Sunrise Chaat masala, lemon juice and 15 ml of tamarind chutney. Mix well with a spoon.


Step 2: Assemble the Papri Chaat

Time: 10 minutes

Arrange the papdi on a large platter. Top them with the previously prepared spiced mixture.

Spoon the whisked dahi over the toppings. Sprinkle some bhujia and salted peanuts. Drizzle the tamarind chutney on top. Garnish with pomegranate and fresh coconut slices.


Step 3: Garnish and Serve
